The birthday festivities came early this year for Anya Taylor-Joy, who turns 28 years old today, April 16! On the eve of her special day, she spent a night out with Dior.
Taylor-Joy has served as a global brand ambassador for the French fashion house for almost three years now, so it was no surprise to see her sitting front row at the brand’s Pre-Fall 2024 show Monday night at the Brooklyn Museum. And although she was wearing all black for the occasion, she looked absolutely radiant.

The Golden Globe winner brought the drama in an inky-black sleeveless midi dress that featured a squared-off strapless neckline with a second scoop neckline in a sheer fabric attached to it, frilly details along the top hem, a glossy narrow leather belt, and a pencil skirt. For some extra grandeur, she added matching sheer black opera gloves, tall pointed-toe stiletto heels, and a wide black headband that she wore over her long, blonde ponytail. Taylor-Joy even went funeral chic for her makeup, which included a mesmerizing dark smoky eye, black eyeliner, a tangerine-orange tinted lip, soft pink blush, and a deep-brown manicure. She finished everything off with minimal jewelry, wearing her gorgeous gold wedding ring, set with diamonds and an emerald.
Taylor-Joy has been leaning into a dark palette recently—entering her rocker era, dare we say? Her shift to a more grungy wardrobe is likely inspired by her forthcoming movie Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, in which she plays Imperator Furiosa, a member of a biker horde and a younger incarnation of the character Charlize Theron introduced in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. Earlier this week, Taylor-Joy stepped out for a New York Knicks game with husband Malcolm McRae in sexy, glossy leather pants that featured a cutout down the center of each leg with a lace-up pattern within. She paired the daring bottoms with a ribbed white tank top, layered under a fitted black leather motorcycle jacket, along with stiletto boots and cat-eye shades. Prior to that, the Queen’s Gambit star attended CinemaCon in Las Vegas in a daring black leather dress from Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s Fall/Winter 2024 ready-to-wear collection. The piece looked like one long studded belt that wrapped around her body, creating a crisscross halter neckline and a decorative strip that hung off the bottom hem.
